Telematics and rear mounted HD camera: Probably the safest bicycle in the world!

In a quarter of fatal cyclist accidents, the front of the vehicle hits the rear of the bicycle.

Every year in the UK alone, around 19,000 cyclists are killed or injured in reported road accidents.  The most common vehicle involved in collisions with cyclists is a car or taxi, with the rider usually being hit by the front of the vehicle.

Introducing SatsafeBike™, our patent pending rear facing camera innovation (above) combined with  embedded telematics devices that report impact incidents from the rear automatically. We think that this innovation provides cyclists with perhaps the most important safety product to be introduced in recent years.  Unfortunately, as cycling gains in popularity, so will the number of accidents involving cyclists.

Our embedded telematics solution communicates over GSM/GPRS allowing a user to login via a website or from an Android or iPhone app to obtain information about the bike, including its riding statistics.

Considering the relatively high cost of eBikes, this fear of loss could be a barrier to people making a purchase.  SatsafeBike means that it is now possible to send an sms to the bike to locate it quickly if it is stolen.

The accelerometer is the vital component for early notification if the cyclist is involved in a collision.  It automatically sends the exact location of the device if it records an impact force of more than 2Gs, potentially saving lives.

SatsafeBike™  also monitors your physical activity. Information such as miles travelled, route and average speed are provided within the fitness package.  Our forthcoming Satsafe app will allow you to share your results on social networks, celebrating each mile with friends and family.

As a research and development Social Enterprise, Satsafe Technologies CIC develops innovative GPS-based products and services that provide safety benefit to end users.
